Marble is heavy, and freight is often the difference between a competitive offer and a pointless one. We quote landed prices so you can compare like with like instead of discovering the shipping bill afterwards.
Europe — by truck
Within the EU we load flatbed or low-loader trucks direct from the quarry area, typically 24–25 tonnes per vehicle, which is one to three blocks depending on size. Delivery to Germany, Austria, France, Spain, Poland and the Benelux runs a few days from loading. No customs formalities inside the union.
Worldwide — by container
For overseas destinations we load 20- and 40-foot containers at the port. A 20-foot container is normally limited by weight rather than volume — around 26–28 tonnes of stone, so one large block or two smaller ones, blocked and braced so nothing shifts at sea.
We ship regularly to buyers in the Far East, the Gulf and North America. For the Chinese market in particular — Xiamen, Shuitou, Yunfu — we are set up to deal in the way that trade expects: photographs of the actual blocks, clear cubic measurement, and a named person who answers.
Terms and documents
We work FOB Italian port or CIF your destination port, whichever you prefer. Every shipment travels with a commercial invoice, packing list with block-by-block measurements, bill of lading and certificate of origin. Additional documentation for your customs regime can be arranged on request.
Common questions
How long does a container take to arrive?
It depends entirely on the lane. Mediterranean to Far East sailings are commonly five to seven weeks port to port; to the US East Coast, roughly two to four. We give you the actual transit time for your route when we quote.
Do you quote FOB or CIF?
Both. FOB if you have your own freight forwarder and rates, CIF if you would rather we handle the sea freight and insurance and give you one landed number.
How is payment normally handled?
For first orders we typically work on advance payment or a letter of credit. Established customers move to agreed terms. We will set this out clearly in the offer, before anything is loaded.
